Summer Vibes Book Tag!

Happy Friday bookish people! I hope you’re all having a good day today. I found this tag on Confessions of a Serial Reader but they said the first person who did it was Deana @thecomfyreader

Onto the tag!

The beach – a book set somewhere tropical

I chose Love Him To Death by Tanya Landman. Amateur sleuths poppy and graham end up with Poppy’s Mum at a celebrity wedding on an island and things start going wrong…

Music festival – a book with a focus on music

The Dog Sitter Detective Takes the Lead by Anthony Johnston, the main character Ginny is hired by a rockstar musician to look after his dog while he goes away on tour and then they all get caught up in the murder

Watermelon – a book with a juicy secret

Most of the books I read have juicy secrets but the one that jumped to mind was Last Girl Breathing, it was an intense thriller filled with secrets, honestly you wouldn’t see the twist coming.

Water park – a book set near or on the water

A Fatal Crossing by Tom Hindle, I haven’t read it yet but I know it is a murder mystery set on a boat so that works for water.

Ice cream – a guilty pleasure book or genre

I chose romance as a whole genre because it is not something I read much so when I do it feels a bit like a guilty pleasure read

Picnic with friends – a book about friendship

I chose The Jewelled Moth by Katherine Woodfine because the main group is four characters and I love reading about their friendship

Road trip – a book that takes you on an adventure

What else could I pick but the Lord of the Rings, the ultimate adventure.

Sunburn – a book that you regret reading

I chose The Cat Who Caught A Killer, one of the worst books I have read, I did not enjoy it at all and I could not suspend my disbelief enough for a talking cat helping her solve mysteries I just couldn’t.

Summer Dress – a book that is light and cute

Plus One by Kelsey Rodkey, it is a sweet romance, I liked it a lot

Mosquito – a book with an annoying character

This might be controversial but I had to choose Mal from Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

Mid Year Freak Out Tag

Happy Friday bookish people! I hope you are all doing well today.

I have been seeing lots of people doing this tag and it looks fun so I wanted to share my answers as well.

Best book you have read so far in 2024?

Best sequel you have read so far in 2024?

New release you haven’t read yet but want to?

Most anticipated release for the second half of 2024?

Biggest disappointment?

Biggest surprise?

New favourite author?

Rob Rinder, I like him on TV anyway and I met him at the end of May which was a great experience but I wasn’t sure how I would find his writing but I loved it.

Newest fictional crush?

This was a difficult one but in the end I chose Detective Rowan Crane from How to Solve your own murder, which was a surprise even to myself because the book itself was only a three star, but I did love his character.

Newest favourite character?

This would be Juliet from Shatter Me by Taherah Mafi, because of her strength with everything she goes through in the book.

A book that made you cry?

A book that made you happy?

Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year?

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

There aren’t any specific books I need to read but I would like to make more progress in series’ I have started because what I tend to do is read the first one, buy all of the series and then not get around to reading them.

Valentine’s Day Book Tag

Happy Friday bookish people! I hope you’re all having a good day today.

I thought it would be fun today to do the Valentine’s Day Book Tag that I found on Words About Words Blog.

  1. What book have you been given as a gift that you loved? I was given the special edition slipcase for ACOTAR for christmas the year before last, it is so beautiful that I don’t want to read that edition though, I will just read my paperback edition.
  2. What book would you like to give as a gift to someone else? It depends, I’ve given my Mum Elise Kova books as gifts before because I know she loves her books but for others even though I know they like reading I wouldn’t know where to start with gifting them a book.
  3. If you could gift a random person an non-bookish item what would it be? I would say maybe an experience, something that wouldn’t end up on a shelf gathering dust.
  4. If you could gift a random person a bookish item what would you give them? I would say probably a bookmark because everyone needs one of those.
  5. What do you say when a person gives you a gift you don’t like? I have to be polite and say thank you but also watch my face, because I know I am quite expressive and give it away so I have to be careful.
  6. Mention a book based around valentine’s day? I don’t know any specifically for Valentine’s but Plus One by Kelsey Rodkey is excellent
  7. Mention a film you love to watch on Valentine’s Day? Again not on the actual day but my favourite romcom is either Dirty Dancing or Pretty Woman.
  8. mention a few of your favourite OTPs. Where to start? Scarlet and Julian from Caraval, Elisabeth and Nathaniel from Sorcery of Thorns, Wrath and Emilia from Kingdom of the Wicked and Thomas Cresswell and Audrey Rose Wadsworth from Stalking Jack The Ripper
  9. Which fictional character would you love to see at your door with a bouquet of roses? Kellen from Spellslinger by Sebastien de Castell (and Reichis of course!)

How would you answer these questions? let me know in the comments.

End of Year Book Tag!

happy Friday bookish people! I hope you are all having a wonderful day today.
Today I am doing the End of Year Book Tag, how would you answer these questions? Let me know in the comments.

Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish?
At least two, but only two I can remember the names of which are A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas, which I wanted to finish but it’s a long book and I wasn’t feeling fantasy right then. The second book is Assistant to the Villain and I didn’t finish this book because I wanted to love it but there wasn’t enough plot in it to keep me captivated and for me personally romance gets boring after 100 or so pages if the plots not there.

Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year?
I would have to say not really I tend to read a lot of mysteries towards the end of the year and I don’t feel they are very autumnal most of the time.

Is there a new release you are still waiting for?
so many! All because I wrote my list of book early September for my mum to use as my Christmas list so I haven’t been able to buy any since then.

Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favourite of the year?
I am going to say the Murder on the Christmas Express because I love a good murder mystery so we shall see. As I am writing this I am starting this book tonight, fingers crossed.

Have you already started making reading plans for 2023?
Not really, I have my eye on a few books releasing next year and if you’d like to see what those are I am posting a top ten most anticipated releases.

I hope you enjoyed this tag!

Book For All Occasions Book Tag

Happy Friday bookish people! I hope you are all having a lovely day today. I found this book tag on hannahsbookshelf.wordpress.com and I thought it would be fun to have a go.

Name a book that makes you cry

I don’t have an answer for this one because books don’t really make me cry, I can find them sad and upsetting but not enough for full tears, not yet at least maybe there is a book out there that will. Any reccommendations?

Name a book that makes you smile

Name a book that makes you feel cosy

Name a book that transports you to a magical place

Name a book that scared you

Name a book with an inspiring female character

I find her inspiring because of her determination, she knows she wants to be an investigator no matter the pressure put on her by society and the limitations they thought a woman should have.

Name a book with an inspiring male character

Kai in the Invisible Library
