Halloween Book Tag

Happy Friday bookish people! I hope you are all having a good day today. I am bringing you my answers to a Halloween Book Tag, I found it last year and I was curious to see if any of my answers would have changed between now and then.

1. carving pumpkins: what book would you carve up and light on fire – A Novel Murder by E C Nevin

I did not enjoy this book, actually I DNF’d it after only a couple of chapters, honestly I could not do a cosy crime novel with a main character who is so self deprecating, I couldn’t continue.

2. trick or treat: a character who is a treat and one who is a trick – Adena in Powerless, Eli from Vicious

Adena is one of the sweetest characters in any books I have read and she did not deserve her ending, on the other hand Eli from vicious started my obsession with morally grey characters and he did deserve the ending he got.

3. candy corn: what book is always sweet – What Would Jane Austen Do?

This book is one of few romance novels that I have actually enjoyed. It merged classic romance of Jane Austen with a light, fluffy, funny, romance plot.

4. ghosts: a character you would like to visit you as a ghost – Ferrius Parfax from Spellslinger by Sebastien de Castell

She takes no nonsense and she will give you the harsh truths that you need to hear.

5. Dressing in costume: a character you would want to be for a day – Violet Sorrengail from Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros

I had a stall at London Film and Comic Con July 2025, and I dressed as Violet Sorrengail for that. First time ever wearing leather trousers – they’re not the easiest to wear! But I thought it was great fun to dress as a favourite character for a day or two.

6. blood and gore: a book so creepy you had to take a break – A Gift of Poison by Bella Ellis

This book has a big focus on the dead coming back to take revenge on the living and I made the mistake of reading it at night, I thought the book was excellent but it was creepy.

Spooky Would You Rather Book Tag

Happy Friday bookish people! I hope you are all having a good day today. I thought it would be fun throughout October to do some spooky book tags, this is the second.

I hope you enjoy my Spooky Would You Rather Book Tag!

Thrillers or Supernatural

Ooh this really depends, I don’t mind vampires and witches but I am not keen on werewolves or zombies and in terms of thrillers that really depends on how much they mess with my head, I know that is the point but some of them make it hard to sleep. So, I don’t really have an answer for this one.

Ghosts or Zombies

Definitely ghosts, I am fascinated by them.

Vampires or Werewolves

I think you can tell my answer for this from my first answer…

Witches or Demons

I would always pick witches, from any genre of book, or film – unless it was Wrath from Kingdom of the Wicked and then it’s demons all the way.

13 chapters or a black cat on the cover

Definitely cats, they are so cute. Plus my sister has a black and white cat so black cats are doubly cute.

Spooky book in the dark with only a candle for light or by yourself in a locked brightly lit room

My choice here has to be neither. I can’t choose between a fear of something hidden in the dark or the fear of being locked in.

Face your fears or be trapped in the mind of a killer

ooh my curiosity would definitely be piqued by learning the inside workings of a serial killer but I also think it would be a really dark road to get lost down.

Watch a scary movie or read a scary book

Nope and nope. I am really not made for spooky season.

Read spooky books during fall time or all year

If I was going to read them at all I would want to read them at any point throughout the year.

Read 10 spooky books in October or all year round

Same answer as above!

That’s it for this book tag, I hope you all enjoyed it, how would you have answered?

Halloween Creatures Book Tag!

Happy Friday bookish people! Today I am bringing you a book tag perfect for the cosy, spooky vibes of October- the Halloween Creatures Book Tag that I found on blogging with dragons.com

I hope you enjoy!

Witch – A magical character or book

the first book that came to mind for that was A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske because of the highly inventive magical world.

Werewolf – the perfect book to read at night

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, it is my favourite classic novel but it did used to freak me out the first few times I read it. The atmosphere and location make it the perfect book to read at night.

Frankenstein – a book that truly shocked you

moonflower murders by Anthony Horowitz, I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did.

The Devil – a dark, evil character

I have to be honest, no character comes to mind other than the white walkers in Game of thrones because I like to think most characters have more depth than just being pure evil.

Grim Reaper – a character that never should have died

Matthias in Six of Crows duology – sorry if you haven’t read this yet and I just spoiled it for you!

Zombie – a book that made you hungry for more

Easy, it is definitely kingdom of the wicked, I loved that book and now I have the whole trilogy.

Vampire – a book that sucked the life out of you

Wuthering heights by Emily Bronte. I disliked this book, maybe it was because I had to read it at school but it is not in my top classic books.

ghost – a book that still haunts you

this lie will kill you by Chelsea Pitcher. This book honestly gave me nightmares.

Demon – a book that really scared you.

I have to give the same answer as above for the same reason, this lie will kill you by Chelsea pitcher.

Mummy – a book you would preserve throughout time.

the starless sea by Erin morgenstern!

that is it for this book tag, how would you have answered these questions?
