Happy Friday bookish people! I am so happy today that I am bringing you my post as part of the Blood and Moonlight Book Tour with TBR and Beyond Tours. I will be revealing my top five reasons to read Blood and Moonlight by Erin Beaty and I will be including a photo of my book look inspired by the cover. But first here is the cover and synopsis:

Blurb/Synopsis:

In this medieval YA fantasy thriller, an orphan with a secret, magical sight gets caught between a mysterious genius and the serial killer he’s hunting.

Rising above the city of Collis is the holy Sanctum. And watching over its spires is Catrin, an orphan girl with unique skills—for she alone can spot the building’s flaws in construction before they turn deadly.

But when Catrin witnesses a murderer escaping the scene of his crime, she’s pulled into the web of a dangerous man who will definitely strike again. Assigned to capture the culprit is the mysterious, brilliant, and enigmatic Simon, whose insights into the mind of a killer are frighteningly accurate.

As the grisly crimes continue, Catrin finds herself caught between murderer and detective while hiding her own secret—a supernatural sight granted by the moon, destined to make her an outcast, and the only thing that might save her and those she loves from becoming the next victims…

Top 5 reasons to read Blood and Moonlight!

  1. If you can’t decide between the Fantasy and Murder Mystery genres, choose this book! It is a great balance between both with its mix of magic and old school investigating of a serial killer.
  2. Exciting and unique magic that you get to discover alongside the main character. I personally had never read a fantasy book before with this type of magic in it.
  3. If you like small town settings full of secrets I would definitely say this book could be for you! For me, it made me think of one of the small towns in France.
  4. An intriguing main character who makes it easy for you to root for her.
  5. Maybe a little dash of romance…

Here is my book look!

I tried to imitate the cover of the book for this photo, it’s not perfect but I don’t think it turned out too badly. I was also wearing a pale grey top to imitate the colour of the cover background, you just can’t see it in this photo.

Sense and Second Degree Murder Book tour: Book Look

Happy Friday bookish people! Today I am excited to be bringing you my book look for the book blog tour of Sense and Second Degree Murder by Tirzah Price.

To give you a sense of what I was basing my look on I will show you the book cover here and the synopsis of the book:

Blurb/Synopsis:

Three of Jane Austen’s classic novels receive a murder mystery makeover in this romantic and thrilling three-book series that’s perfect for fans of The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy and Stalking Jack the Ripper. In Sense and Second-Degree Murder, aspiring scientist Elinor Dashwood and her sister Marianne, a budding detective, work together to solve the mystery of their father’s murder.

When eighteen-year-old aspiring scientist Elinor Dashwood discovers her beloved father slumped over the desk of his office study, she knows his death means dire straits for the Dashwood women. To make matters worse, an outdated will entails his estate—including Norland & Company, the private investigation firm where her younger sister Marianne worked as her father’s partner and protégé—to their half-brother and his haughty wife, who waste no time in forcing the Dashwoods out of their home and into a cramped apartment on London’s Barton Street.

But before they go, the Dashwood sisters make a startling discovery that points to foul play, and the killer might be family.

Obviously, the girls must investigate. It could be dangerous; it could ruin their reputations; and most importantly, it won’t bring back their father. But if the Dashwood sisters can combine their talents and bring their father’s murderer to justice, it may bring them all some comfort—and it might even lead to love.

This is my book look:

I chose a dark green top for the background colour of the book, although I didn’t have anything in just the right mix of green and blue but I will definitely be looking out for some now because it is a great colour. I chose pink trousers to match the pink stitching, which you can’t see that well in this picture because I have an ebook copy of the books – kindly sent to me on Netgalley by the publishers. I chose a floral cardigan because the cover is full of flowers.

As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson Book Look and Top 5 Reasons to read.

Happy Wednesday bookish people! I am so excited to be part of the book tour for As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson, the third book in the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Series. I absolutely love this series and I am excited today to be bringing you a ‘book look’ and my Top 5 Reasons for you to read As Good As Dead!

Thank you to TbrBeyond tours for having me on this tour and sending me an e-copy of this book.

So, first let me show you my book look! I looked at the colours on the cover, black, grey and red, and I chose a red top and a pair of grey jeans.

(This photo was taken in my hallway by the way, it’s the place that had the best light)

Onto my Top 5 Reasons To Read As Good As Dead…

Top 5 Reasons To Read As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson:

  1. If you have read the first book, or the first and second book in this series you’ll already know how good it is and can’t wait to pick up the third book – I felt like this and I was not disappointed, I thought As Good As Dead was brilliant.
  2. If you like school based murder mystery books like Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson then this book series would definitely be for you!
  3. The characters have you on their side before you even know you’re on their side. It’s really that quick and the characters are some of my favourites in YA books.
  4. The book has a large focus on family and friendship which is something I particularly enjoyed, if you’re like me and you enjoy seeing this in books there is plenty of it in this series.
  5. There is mixed media – like emails and transcripts of interviews which is a unique element that adds to the story.

Blurb/Synopsis of As Good As Dead:

The highly anticipated, edge-of-your-seat conclusion to the addictive A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series that reads like your favorite true crime podcast or show. By the end, you’ll never think the same of good girls again.

Pip’s good girl days are long behind her. After solving two murder cases and garnering internet fame from her crime podcast, she’s seen a lot.

But she’s still blindsided when it starts to feel like someone is watching her. It’s small things at first. A USB stick with footage recording her and the same anonymous source always asking her: who will look for you when you’re the one who disappears? It could be a harmless fan, but her gut is telling her danger is lurking.

When Pip starts to find connections between her possible stalker and a local serial killer, Pip knows that there is only one choice: find the person threatening her town including herself–or be as good as dead. Because maybe someone has been watching her all along…
