Signed Books That I Own

Happy Friday bookish people! I hope you are all having a good day today. I thought it might be fun today to share what some books I have, that I have signed, are.

I would just like to say that I am not trying to brag about the books that I have I just thought it might be fun to share which books and where I may have gotten some of them.

I got this book as a wonderful signed edition from my monthly Illumicrate boxes

The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis

I also got this book in a book box!

Dangerous Remedy by Kat Dunn

I also got this one in an Illumicrate box, I read it and loved it and now I own the second one in the series.

Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody

My friend ordered me this book from online because they had found a hardback copy and then when it arrived it was a great surprise to find out it was also signed

The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant

I got this amazing book in my Illumicrate box too.

Mrs England by Stacey Halls

I managed to grab a signed edition of this book from my local waterstones

Haven’t They Grown by Sophie Hannah

I found this book in a charity shop and it turned out to be a signed hardback and it was an amazing bargain

A Line To Kill by Anthony Horowitz

I got this from a company called Forbidden Planet, I was just scrolling through their website and I ended up ordering a lot of books (oops!) and I managed to get a signed copy of this book from there.

I got this one in my Waterstones, it didn’t say it was signed and I was very happy when I got home and saw it was signed

friday first and lasts

Friday First and Lasts Round 3

Happy Friday bookish people! I hope you’re all having a good day so far. Today I am bringing you the third round of my Friday First and Lasts segment. For today’s round I will be giving you three first and lasts which I hope you will enjoy!

Up first is:

No Number Nine by F J Campbell and The Secrets of the Stars by Maria Kuzniar

“Philippa Mitchell was eighteen when she left England/ it was her home” – This one actually works really well together, which surprised me but I like the sentence that it created.

Next is:

As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson and Modern Faerie Tales by Holly Black

“Dead-eyed that’s what they said wasn’t it?/ Consider it done” – ooh now this one works so well together! It gives me a very strong murder mystery from the POV of the murderer vibe, that’s probably a little strange but there you go. And both books were written by a Holly which shouldn’t make me as happy as it does.

My final one for today is:

Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey and Get A Life Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert

“There’s a bird in the store/ with a wry smile he said seriously “I know”” – okay. There’s so much to say about this one. It does work, grammatically but honestly, if there was a bird in a shop that I was in just flying around and someone with me just said ‘I know’ I would be so irritated with them… although maybe that does work for this one..I’m not sure, let me know what you all think.

Happy Wednesday bookish people! I am so excited to be part of the book tour for As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson, the third book in the Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Series. I absolutely love this series and I am excited today to be bringing you a ‘book look’ and my Top 5 Reasons for you to read As Good As Dead!

So, first let me show you my book look! I looked at the colours on the cover, black, grey and red, and I chose a red top and a pair of grey jeans.

Top 5 Reasons To Read As Good As Dead by Holly Jackson:

  1. If you have read the first book, or the first and second book in this series you’ll already know how good it is and can’t wait to pick up the third book – I felt like this and I was not disappointed, I thought As Good As Dead was brilliant.
  2. If you like school based murder mystery books like Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson then this book series would definitely be for you!
  3. The characters have you on their side before you even know you’re on their side. It’s really that quick and the characters are some of my favourites in YA books.
  4. The book has a large focus on family and friendship which is something I particularly enjoyed, if you’re like me and you enjoy seeing this in books there is plenty of it in this series.
  5. There is mixed media – like emails and transcripts of interviews which is a unique element that adds to the story.

Book Review: A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

Happy Monday bookish people! I hope you’re all having a good day. Here is my third and final book review for today – A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson.

In this book review I will give star ratings to four categories and I will write a little about each one. I will try to keep it as spoiler free as possible. I hope you enjoy my book review.

A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder Plot:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I’ll start by saying, I loved this book. It got the right balance between light and dark for most of the book and the mystery in it was so engaging I couldn’t go to bed last night until I had finished reading it. I loved the school project element to the story and I particularly loved the brother of the boy everyone thought was the murderer teaming up with Pip. I would have liked a little bit more resistance from Ravi before he started teaming up with pip though.

A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder Characters:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

As I was saying, I really liked following Pip and Ravi as the two main characters in this story, they had their own quirks which gave the story another layer. I felt that all of the characters were well created and although I would have liked to have seen more of some of them I could see why I didn’t and how each character fit within the story.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Writing and Dialogue:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I liked Holly Jackson’s writing style a lot, it allowed for the serious moments and the light hearted ones very well and it helped me enjoy reading it even more.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder Overall:

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I gave this book four stars overall and I am really excited about getting to the sequel soon.
