Happy Tuesday bookish people! I am here today to talk about Ashes of Gold by J. Elle, the second book in the duology. The first book being Wings of Ebony. I was sent an ebook copy by Chelsea Apple so thank you for that. Unfortunately, with everything that has been happening recently I wasn’t able to read the book completely in time to do this post. However, I would still love to share with you what the duology is about because I think it is an amazing fantasy duology that I would recommend to anyone who enjoys fantasy with brilliant worldbuilding and a strong, fearless female lead!
Wings of Ebony

Happy Friday bookish people! I hope you’re all having a good day and week. My week has been very upsetting and stressful, my partner and I ended up breaking up and I had to gather the things I needed and move to my sister’s house for a few days. Then I will be moving back in with my parents so it’s been really difficult and I’m not doing too great but things will get better soon I’m sure.
Spaghetti – A book with a friendship or multiple points of view
All I had to know about this book is that there’s a library and demons coming out of books so of course I want to read it.
Champagne – A character with anxiety
I don’t know much about this book but I saw a few people mention that if you like the book fangirl by rainbow rowell then you might like this one so that’s why I picked it up and I am intrigued.
Steak and Lobster – A book that looks expensive or has a fancy cover
I am so excited to read this book! And this cover definitely fits the prompt of looking fancy.
Ring Pops – a book featuring or revolving around a wedding
Yuzu – a sweet and tart character
I love anything Garth Nix so I am very excited to read this.
Truffles – A darker genre book e.g mystery or thriller
Leftovers – A book you DNF’d
I started this book about a year ago and I read the first 100 pages and then I can’t remember the reason why I put it down but I did and I hadn’t gotten around to picking it up again yet.
Baked Alaska – a book with a surprise
Edible Glitter – A book with magic or fantasy in it
Milkshake – a book where two characters have to go on a quest
Pizza – a comfort read
Strawberries – a book with a red cover
I know it doesn’t look very red here but I was very lucky to be sent a proof copy of this book and that one has a red cover, so I am going to count it.

In this book review I will give star ratings to four categories and I will write a little about each one. I will try to keep it as spoiler free as possible. I hope you enjoy my book review.
Pages and Co Plot:

Rating: 4 out of 5.
Pages and Co is a story that focuses on Tilly, a young girl who lives with her Grandparents in their bookshop, who finds that there is a lot more magic in books than she thought possible. I loved the magic in this story, it embodies the wonder that children feel when reading and living the enchantment of books. It also carries a childlike innocence throughout that gives the whole story a lighter tone despite the serious moments. The plot of this book was so unique and it drew me in from the very first chapter
Pages and Co Characters:

Rating: 4 out of 5.
Tilly is the main character in this book, she is headstrong and adventurous. I loved following her as she discovers where her life is going. I felt that Tilly had a great character arc in this story but also I think her character still has a lot of room for growth in the rest of the series. Something else I loved about the characters in this book is the friendship between Tilly and Oskar.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
There’s not a lot that I can say about this other than it was clear and smooth and I felt that the writing helped to carry the plot on.

I gave this book four stars overall because I really enjoyed the story and I am excited to continue reading the series (at the time of reading this I have already read the second book in the series).

Happy Tuesday bookish people! It’s the first month of the new year and it is time to share what I hope to be reading this month. I feel like I want to read a lot this month so far, I am hoping this will continue throughout the month and I’ll have a great month to start the year.
My January TBR:
The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi – I am really excited to read this book, I bought it with some vouchers I got for Christmas and it should be arriving today.
Furyborn by Claire Legrand – I’m not sure what I will think of this book but I want to read more outside of my comfort zone this year
Queenslayer by Sebastien de Castell – I am so close to finishing this series and I think this book will be another great one just like the rest of the series.
Act Your Age Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert – I will say at the time of writing this that I have actually finished reading this book and completed the Brown Sisters trilogy!
Daughters of Night by Laura Shepard-Robinson – A good Victorian mystery, that’s just what I want to read right now.
Shadowscent by P M Freestone – this is another book that I am not sure what to make of it yet but I hope I will enjoy it.
The Plague Letters by V L Valentine – a historical murder mystery, it sounds so different and intriguing and I am excited to get into it.
Nevernight by Jay Kristoff – I am hoping that I will be able to get into this book easily.
Killings at Kingfisher Hill by Sophie Hannah – I read one of the books in her Poirot series and enjoyed it so hopefully the rest of the series will be the same.
The Devil and the Dark Water by Stuart Turton – I loved his other book and a murder mystery set on a boat sounds intriguing.
Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas – It is time I got around to reading this book.
Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody – I love any book to do with a circus or carnival so I have high hopes.
European Travels for the Monstrous Gentlewoman by Theodora Goss – I have already started this one and just like the first book in the series, I am already immersed in the world.

So let’s talk about what I did or didn’t read in December 2021 and what I thought of the books!
A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas – none of you will be surprised that again, no I haven’t read this book yet. I will but I didn’t get to it in 2021.
All Of Us Villains by Amanda Foody – I was so excited for this one but I wasn’t in the mood to read such a dark fantasy so I am hoping to read it soon.
Dance of Thieves by Mary E Pearson – I didn’t get around to this one either.
Eliza and her Monsters by Francesca Zappia – I did not read this book.
Good Girl Bad Blood by Holly Jackson – I did read this one! I liked it but not quite as much as I enjoyed the first book in the series.
In the Crypt with the Candlestick by Daisy Waugh – I did not read this one.
It Sounded Better In My Head by Nina Kenwood – I didn’t read this book.
Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco – I really wanted to get around to this one but in the end I didn’t.
Mistletoe and Murder by Robin Stevens – I read this one and I really loved it, except for the ending.
Murder in Midwinter – I started reading this one but I haven’t quite finished it.
Not Here to be Liked by Michelle Quach – I read this book but I didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber – I also was very excited to read this but I didn’t in December.
Stay Sweet by Siobhan Vivian – I didn’t read this book.
The Christmas Murder Game by Alexandra Benedict – I did read this one and I have posted a book review of it.
The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling – I didn’t read this one
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood – I wanted to read this one but then I heard some reactions to it and it has put me off a little bit.
The Man Who Died Twice by Richard Osman – I read this one and I liked it but again it wasn’t as good as the first book in the series.
The Marlow Murder Club by Robert Thorogood – I didn’t read this one
Traitors Kiss by Erin Beaty – I didn’t read this one either
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard – I didn’t read this one
Vespertine by Margaret Rogerson – I did not read this
Well Met by Jen De Luca – I did not read this one.
So from my TBR i ended up reading five and I started reading one other. On top of my TBR I read Murder on Christmas Eve, Rivers of London, Unsolved Deaths, and six of the books in the Pony Mad Princess series. That brings my total of book read to 14 in December which is a great amount.
